Sarah Palin 2012, Although her appearance at a rally for the tea party in Iowa this weekend hopes of its supporters that Sarah Palin will run for the presidency in 2012, at least one prominent Republican lawmaker does not think is going to throw her hat in the ring.
South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint, a leading figure in the Tea Party, which will host a political forum for most of the major Republican contenders on Monday, told CBS News: “I think [Palin] is to execute. Much has been done, I think, to engage the American people and shake things up, you really need to do to make U.S. citizens more involved in the process. It made a big difference in the last election . My hope is that going to make an even bigger difference in the upcoming elections, as people take back their government. ”
DeMint refused to say who is the favorite Republican is now.
“It is still early,” he said. “We have every major candidate in South Carolina today, and we will give them the opportunity to define themselves in their own terms, to discuss the American view, to talk about what I would do differently to Barack Obama. So, I think we learn a lot from the candidates. This is not a “gotcha” sound bite answers meeting. We will give each candidate 20 minutes on stage alone to discuss her vision of America. “
