San Francisco Marathon, With 20,000 runners who compete in five events (full marathon, 2 half marathons, 5K, and Progressive Marathon), San Francisco Marathon has runners of all ages, from all over the world.
Each year there are many personal interest stories surrounding the race. In the case of participants who are participating to raise funds for a Cause to run our equipment, the corridors of the military careers of their jobs overseas, or children who are participating in our Youth Program launch, Marathon San Francisco has many stories to tell!
San Francisco Marathon is a loop course. The race begins and ends at the Embarcadero (near the Ferry Building), across San Francisco. The marathon runs through Fisherman’s Wharf, the Marina, across the Golden Gate Bridge (and vice versa!), Through the Presidio and Golden Gate Park. After a tour of Golden Gate Park, you will encounter the famous Haight Street and through the Mission, Potrero and Mission Bay districts. After a pass behind AT & T Park home about – just run under the Bay Bridge and up the line.
