Saint Louis River

January 19, 2014 by staff

Saint Louis River, The St. Louis River Alliance has set its annual membership meeting for Wednesday at the Convention Center of Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College in Superior.

The event, set for 6:30-8:30 p.m., is free and open to the public, and new members are welcome.

The meeting will include a presentation on recent activity by the Alliance toward conservation efforts on the lower river and estuary in the Twin Ports as well as a look ahead at 2014 effort. The meeting also includes an update on the Clough Island project.

In 2010, Clough Island was purchased from a private party by the Nature Conservancy, which then turned it over to the state of Wisconsin. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has been restoring habitat on the island using a $250,000 grant from U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
