Ruby Dee

Ruby Dee, Actress, writer and producer Ruby Dee was awarded the Living Legend Award at this year’s Black Girls Rock Award.

Along with Raven-Symone Childstar, rapper Missy Elliott, the Rev. Dr. Iyanla Vanzant, General Marcelita investment banker Harris and Teresa Clarke, Dee received his trophy amid cheers and much admiration.

Dee, who has been inducted into the Hall of Fame Theater, was chosen as a “living legend” by his presence instrumental in Hollywood – especially during the period in which an African-American woman in show business was almost unheard of. Dee’s career has also been blessed with an Emmy trophy. And now, with Black Girls Rock Award under his belt, just to prove to everyone that talent is not at all diminish with increasing age of one.
