Royal Tour Adelaide

April 22, 2014 by

Royal Tour Adelaide, A crowd of around 50,000 people is expected to turn out to greet the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in Adelaide today.

It is a whirlwind visit, with the couple expected to spend just under three hours in the suburb of Elizabeth, named after the Queen.

Prince William and Catherine, who spent the night in the Northern Territory, will arrive at the RAAF Edinburgh base about 11:00am (ACST).

From there, they will head to Northern Sound System, an alternative learning centre which uses music to engage with young people.

The Royal couple, who are expected to be greeted by about 100 students, will watch hip-hop dancing, a performance of original rap songs and a skateboarding display.

From there the Duke and Duchess will attend a civic reception at the Playford Civic Centre, hosted by South Australian Governor Rear Admiral Kevin Scarce.

Officials predict a crowd of up to 50,000 will gather along the streets hoping to catch a glimpse of the Royal couple.

It is hoped there will also be an opportunity for the public to meet William and Catherine when they walk from their car into the civic centre.

Playford City Council Mayor Glenn Docherty says the council has been receiving calls from fans hoping to camp in the area overnight.

“We’ve had a number of calls to the council’s telephone line asking us what time to get here. All I can say is get here bright and early,” he said.
