Romney & Obama Gaffe

Romney & Obama Gaffe, The former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney stumbled into the controversial territory Friday night at a forum for possible presidential candidates in New Hampshire, suggesting that Republicans “hang” President Obama with the so-called “misery index. ”

Romney, an all-but-declared presidential candidate, was responding to a question on an American event for the prosperity of what was going to do to curb the rise in gasoline prices when he suddenly found his way in – and then quickly – the verbal gaffe.

“We will hang the Misery Index of Obama around his neck,” Romney told a crowd of conservative activists, before saying: “We will hang with it, so to speak.”

Apparently, the realization of his choice of words, Romney paused and added, “metaphorically.”

“You have to be careful these days,” he said.

Romney refers to the “Misery Index” was, as he acknowledged, a throwback to a term that then presidential candidate Ronald Reagan used to describe public discontent about economic conditions during the debates with incumbent President Jimmy Carter the 1980 elections.

“It’s not what the governor meant and it was very clear on what he actually said,” Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul told ABC News.
