Rod Blagojevich

Rod Blagojevich, The city was bustling yesterday afternoon after reading the verdict in the corruption trial of Rod Blagojevich. Blagojevich was convicted of only one of 24 charges – which angered prosecutors and made the ex-governor and his lawyers feel vindicated.

Although the United States Federal prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald told the Associated Press that the government was ready for a new trial, Blagojevich and his lawyer criticized the federal – calling the trial a “persecution” and waste of money.

Blagojevich, who was found guilty of making false statements to a federal agent, said he did not lie – and his attorney Sam Adam Jr. said he is to blame for failing to convince jurors that.

“Yes, I’m talking to the jury to come,” Adam said during a press conference after the trial of fire. “You have to blame someone … you look right at me.”

Blagojevich also addressed the media with his wife Patti by his side.

“I’ve told the truth from the beginning,” he said. “This is a chase. We have police officers being gunned down on the streets, we have children who can not play outside their homes in the summer because you can be shot dead, and we have a prosecutor who has lost and wants to spend tens of millions of dollars of taxpayer money to keep chasing me. ”
