Rivers Casino Des Plaines, The newest casino in the Chicago area is looking to hire workers. The Casino of the Des Plaines River plans to open for business this summer. The company will place job seekers in the Rosemont Convention Center on Friday.

“One thousand jobs!” That title is getting the attention of nearly, 000 people who came to Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont Friday. They have been standing in line for hours, going through a process to hopefully get a job at Chicagoland’s newest casino.

The crowd marched to the Rosemont Convention Center just before 9 Thousands of people – fingers crossed – are betting on about 1,000 jobs in the Casino of the rivers and entertainment when it opens this summer in Des Plaines.

“Getting hired by the casino, my hometown. A good opportunity, I thought,” said Manny Gomez potential candidates.

“I am looking for any job you can get at this time. Any change. All that is available at this time,” said Teresa Flynn.

Flynn has been struggling to find work for a year, barely able to pay the bills, she says.

However, a surprising number of people who spoke with ABC7 have jobs and are seeking better opportunities on the table.

“I’ve always liked the gaming industry. I’ve been at it for years. I want to move. Just something different, something new,” said Anita Matthews’s potential candidates.

Prospective employees are not filling the applications and submit resumes today. This is just a meet and greets the executives who are expected to remind people that stand out.

“It’s fair work information. They will come, get green card information, fill out some information about your career and work history, and then give one of the leaders in our work area here. They are meeting with the top right people in the casino club in its first experience, “said Kate McMahon, director of human resources Rivers Casino.

Rivers Casino is not disclosing a salary range, but promises a competitive salary and benefits plan.

“To put Illinois back to work is very exciting,” said McMahon. “As director of human resources is probably the most inspiring part of my job right now, to offer such opportunities.”

The casino job fair runs until 4 pm Friday afternoon.

Since applications are not accepted at the convention center, applicants are asked to visit to apply online.
