George Sluizer told The Hollywood Reporter that Dark Blood hopes to launch next year. The filmmaker said he plans to ask his brother Joaquin Phoenix to record voice-overs for the film because “the voices of the two brothers are very similar.”
Phoenix died of a drug overdose in 1993, 23. Only 11 days of shooting in the dark blood was maintained over time.
The producers later tried to sue his mother and 6 million (£ 3.8 million), saying that did not report their drug use. The last case collapsed.
However Sluizer, who led Spoorloos and leakage, has been in contact with the family of Phoenix in the intervening years.
He told The Hollywood Reporter that had kept black blood images hidden all this time, for fear of being destroyed.
It has now been re-edited and Sluzier believes that with a few adjustments, including the creation of a voice that can finish the movie.
The story revolves around a widower living in a nuclear test site in the desert, which comes to the rescue of a couple honeymoon when their car breaks down.
