Ricky Williams Retires

February 12, 2012 by staff

Ricky Williams Retires, Ricky Williams was asked why he was retiring, why now, why after a good season, and he said: “That’s not the question. ‘Why am I playing?’ That’s the question. If I could do anything in the world, and it’s doable, why wouldn’t I do that?”

On Tuesday, at 34, Ricky left the Baltimore Ravens, football and a life inside the locker room. I’ve never looked forward to an athlete’s retirement as much as his, because he’s the rare player who will be more successful out of sports than in them.

“I have to keep 85 percent of who I really am under wraps to fit into that (football) model,” Ricky said. “It’s not fun for me. Even when I show an extra five percent, it pushes the envelope.”
