Resident Evil 6, The sixth instalment in the hugely successful Resident Evil franchise has been officially confirmed, with Capcom releasing an announcement trailer last night, in advance of the series’ 15th anniversary party in Tokyo today. Resident Evil 6 is scheduled for launch on Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 on November 20th worldwide, with a PC version to follow soon after.
Ten years after the Raccoon City incident, the American president, joined by his personal friend and Raccoon City survivor, Leon S. Kennedy, decides to reveal the truth of the incident in the hopes that it will curb a recent resurgence in biot*rror*sm; however, a bioterrorist attack on the venue itself forces Leon to face a President “transformed beyond recognition” and make “his hardest ever decision”.
Simultaneously, Biot*rror*sm Security Assessment Alliance member Chris Redfield arrives in China, itself under threat of a bioterrorist attack. Resi 6 sees Leon and Chris come together for the first time in series history to face the unprecedented threat, joined by new characters in what will be a “relentless dramatic horror experience enacted on a global scale”.
“From the outset the team’s intention was to create an experience that delivers a gripping storyline, tense single-player and co-op action all set against a constant theme of horror,” said Hiroyuki Kobayashi, executive producer of Resident Evil 6. “We are calling this fusion dramatic horror and are confident it will resonate with both existing fans of the series as well as newcomers.”
