Renee Gork Twitter announced that it had been fired by KAKS, a radio station northwestern Arkansas called pork Sports Radio. Gork was wearing a Gator hat Saturday at a press conference with Arkansas football coach Bobby Petrino.
Petrino, whose team lost to the Gators 23-20 last season in Florida, said in the hat of Gork, after answering a question he asked. “And that will answer the last question in that hat,” Petrino said.
Gork, a graduate of Florida, said she grabbed his hat without thinking of the Sabbath because it was raining outside. He said he sent a letter of apology to the university and Petrino.
“I was hoping to publicly apologize to Coach Petrino and UA fans on the show today … but I will not have that opportunity,” he wrote in mind KAKS Gork ‘Twitter. “I’ve been fired.”
Gork could not be reached Monday for comment. There was no telephone listing in his name in the Fayetteville area.
KAKS general manager Dan Storrs confirmed in a telephone interview with The Associated Press that Gork was no longer working for the station, but declined further comment, saying it was a personal matter.
However, he added, “This radio station is Hog Sports Radio. We are very skewed. We support the Razorbacks 100 percent.”
