Regis Philbin Nov. 18, Regis Philbin officially ended his talk show hosting duties of “Live With Regis & Kelly” on 18 November and Jerry Seinfeld will be the first to take place.

Following the departure of Philbin, the TV will feature a variety of guest hosts, including Seinfeld, actor Jason Segal, actress Kim Cattrall, comedian Howie Mandel, Jamie Oliver, and even a puppet – Miss Piggy.

Seinfeld will be the first to replace Philbin, and will join co-host Kelly Ripa for three days from November 21-23.

After 28 years, 80 years old Philbin issued a statement of his departure from the series.

“There is a time when everything must come to an end for some people in the chamber, the elderly, especially true,” Philbin said in a statement.

The host spoke of “Mojo in the Morning” radio program in Detroit that does not retire or leave his job nearly 30 years.

“I’m not calling it quits, I understand,” he said in the program. “I’m moving on. I’m not retiring. I’m not going to leave. I’m moving on.”

Philbin also said the Detroit show that some people had the difficulty of their work for granted.

“You do not know how hard it is to maintain a situation to go on a show like that you do not have writers, who do not have meetings,” said Philbin. “You just go out and do it. I could do that because I’ve done for 50 years, which is the way I like it. But that does not mean it’s right for everyone else.”

Philbin suggested that leaving the show may be a mistake, but had no other choice.

“Of course it’s a big mistake, but Regis is going.”

Following the departure of Philbin, the program’s name will become “Live! With Kelly,” but will continue its current broadcast schedule of 9 am EST.
