Red Cross Japan, The British Red Cross launched an appeal with the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan. The Disasters Emergency Committee will “definitely not” be appealed to the disaster, said a spokesman for civil society in December. Outside the British Red Cross, members of DAC have little presence in Japan and the DEC members are specifically geared towards responding to disasters in poor countries with poor infrastructure, a statement from the agency organization read.
The Red Cross, who is also running for calls the earthquake in New Zealand and the Libyan uprising, will channel donations to the Japanese Red Cross, working with the Japanese government in efforts to relief. Calling New Zealand has raised £ 1m last week.
The spokesman said in December that members might soon launch an action for victims of Japan.
