Reading Kansas Tornado, About 200 houses are damaged and at least 20 are destroyed after a tornado in Kansas reported late Saturday, a spokesman for the emergency management, said on Sunday. “The most affected area in the northeastern part of the state is in Reading, Kansas, in Lyon County,” said Sharon Watson, Division of Emergency Management Kansas. She said one person was killed in Reading. Watson said the agency received a report of a tornado to land at 9:15 pm Saturday. The National Weather Service did not immediately confirm whether a tornado, but Lyon County, said Sunday he was responding to damage caused by a tornado that swept through reading.
Management of emergency personnel is on site and not allowed in the area (affected) unless requested, “A statement of the county, he said. “Nobody will be allowed to search for items or walking through the area.”
Heavy storms hit northeastern Kansas, about 6 pm until midnight. “The first calls was significant damage around 6:30 pm local time in Shawnee County,” said Watson. “There was significant damage caused by large hail that broke windows and broken tree branches.” In Jefferson County, a mobile home was destroyed and an elderly couple was trapped inside, said Watson. She said rescuers cleared the debris and rescued the couple, which was not injured.
