RCMP Police Dogs, RCMP police dog hit by a car while trying to arrest suspects in BC two days ago was brought up in this province. Bear handler, Const. Sansome Melvin worked in Newfoundland and Labrador before moving to BC after training of police dogs in Alberta. He raised the animal as a puppy here.
On Tuesday night, the RCMP say, Bear, Sansome and other officials responded to a residential alarm Maple Ridge, BC
Upon arrival, three suspects were discovered in the residence.
They had gone hard.
The suspects fled on foot after spraying a solvent to the officers.
Bear pursued, but was beaten by a motor vehicle and killed while attempting to understand one of the suspects.
The dog died at the scene.
Members continued the chase and arrested a suspect.
Police dogs and their handlers service to start a bonus when the puppies are just a few weeks of age and continues throughout their initial training in Alberta and later in their careers combined, says a statement from the RCMP.
“It’s a tremendous loss to the guide and the RCMP as a whole when one of our ‘members canine’ is killed in the line of duty.”
