Randy Travis Arrested, Country singer Randy Travis was arrested Monday morning in Sanger, Tex., on suspicion of public intoxication, KXAS-TV/Dallas reported.

A spokesman for the Denton County Sheriff’s Department said an officer spotted a suspicious vehicle parked in front of the First Baptist Church. Travis was found sitting inside his car with an open bottle of wine and “smelling like alcohol,” police said.

The 52-year-old performer was booked at the Denton County Jail in nearby Denton, Tex., at 1:30 a.m., and released a few hours later.

“They take you to jail for at least four hours, time to sober up,” the police spokesman explained.

Last September, the singer collapsed during a performance at the Huguley Memorial Center’s 18th annual Crystal Heart Gala in downtown Fort Worth.

According to the Burleson Star, Travis was in the middle of singing his hit “Three Wooden Crosses” when he suddenly stopped and said his vocal cords were giving out.

He attempted to continue, but stopped again, stumbled sideways with his guitar and “pitched forward” onto the front of the stage, said witnesses.

Travis later walked off stage while giving a thumbs up. His tour manager blamed the incident on dehydration and a bad reaction to over-the-counter allergy medications.
