Post Office Holidays 2010, With October 11, 2010 is a holiday celebrating Columbus Day, many residents of the United States does not realize that this is one of the eleven official holidays observed by the Post Office of the United States. There is no mail service for that day.

According to the U.S. Postal Service, the federal agency seeks to consolidate hundreds of places because of a shortfall and proposed $ 5 billion. The service has nearly 40,000 offices and nearly 60,000 retail outlets. With the proposed closures, the Postmaster General John Potter cited a recent speech that the savings the government could be as high as 100 million.
