According to State Fair Park CEO Rick Frenette, the policy will take effect at 5:00 pm on Friday night and reads as follows:

“1. All young people under eighteen (18) years of age must be accompanied by a legal guardian (age 21 +) to be admitted to the Wisconsin State Fair 5:00 pm

Frenette said at a news conference on Friday that seven officers of the State Fair Police wounded in the attacks and two were treated and released from the hospital. 24 teenagers were arrested after attacking visitors to the fair Thursday night.

“Managing the State Fair has been secured and is working with State Patrol and the City of West Allis, and the City of Milwaukee for a greater police presence around the Fair Park for the safety of all attendees the fair and the surrounding community, “said Fredette. “We will not tolerate this behavior in the Fair Park again.”

Witnesses described a chaotic scene Thursday night, and many believe that African-American adolescents were attacking white fairgoers.

“It seemed we were only going after white kids, white people,” said Norb Roffers, who was attacked near State Fair entrance at the corner of S. 84th St. and Avenue W. Schlinger. “They were attacking everybody for no reason.”

“As we approached the street, look up the road, and saw a bit of a stir up and a man was lying on the road, and no one was even laying there,” he continued Roffers. “I was not even moving.”

“Finally, a car stopped. They stopped right next to the boy, and looked as if someone would help. We were kind of stuck because I could not cross. Traffic was happening.”

“The young black man running, beating people, and they said ‘Let the demons out of here. The light turned and attacked me from behind. I just got hit in the back of the head very hard. I’m like, ‘what the hell is going on here? ” I heard my ring the bell. ”

The State Fair, Milwaukee and West Allis Police Department is still investigating and plan to update the public about the status of investigations later Friday afternoon.
