Plymouth Ice Festival 2011, Here is an overview of some activities that you find at the Plymouth Ice Festival 2011. For a complete schedule, visit the festival website at www.plymouthicefestival.org Dueling Chainsaw Carving Speed Show, Saturday, Jan. 22 – Ice Chips fly like sparks as competitors vie to win the approval of the fan. Each candidate will have 15 minutes to carve a sculpture to be judged by the public.
Carving contest – College sculpture is individual competition Saturday, January 22, college team of two men-carving contest is Sunday, January 23. Witness the drama students compete on a strict deadline.
Forest Ave. Family Fun – Forest Avenue will host a variety of activities throughout the weekend. Come see the sculptures of wildlife in the street, and a petting zoo and pony rides.
The Forest Avenue Treasure Hunt will be held during the festival hours on Saturday and Sunday. Forms can be picked up at the tent of the DDA in the park or you can print the online form. After completing the treasure hunt participants will be registered to win a basket of gifts to 200 families in shops, Forest Street. Fun for adults and children, all ages can play.
Seminars and events – certified professionals will hold learning seminars for students and the general public throughout the festival. Local colleges and high schools participate in training on site and there will be continuing training for professionals.
Temperatures are in the freezer, which means that it is the ideal time for the Plymouth Ice Festival.
This is the 29th time the annual event took place. This year the event has been completely renovated with 100 ice sculptures, music and entertainment, interactive family shows, winter themed food and a variety of additional events.
Many businesses in the city are also involved.
A visitor to the festival of ice tells Action News, “There’s so much to see the ice sculptures are so detailed.”
The Ice Festival runs from Friday, January 21 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., Saturday, January 22 10:00 to 11:00 p.m. and Sunday, January 23 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
