Plum Island, Extreme rains and wind erosion is causing problems at Plum Island.

For weeks, teams have been dredged sand to try to protect the fragile coastline and have fallen into the ocean.

Meanwhile, a massive dredging project on Plum Island is now complete, just in time for the stormy weather.

So far, the three-year project has added about 150 meters new coastline to the battered island. Some residents fear the storm could now be a setback in the effort.

Emergency crews are on alert in case of flooding occurs.
