For weeks, teams have been dredged sand to try to protect the fragile coastline and have fallen into the ocean.
Meanwhile, a massive dredging project on Plum Island is now complete, just in time for the stormy weather.
So far, the three-year project has added about 150 meters new coastline to the battered island. Some residents fear the storm could now be a setback in the effort.
Emergency crews are on alert in case of flooding occurs.
