Pinellas County Jail, One day after his wife was found driving a stolen Ford F-250 pickup, the owner of a salvage yard has been arrested, he was operating a chop shop, police said.

Scott Sands, 32, of Clearwater, was arrested Tuesday on charges of operating a chop shop, grand theft of a motor vehicle, on fraud and stolen property ownership certificate, the documents show prison.

In addition, 10 vehicles were confiscated from his company, Independent Salvage, 3101 Emerson Ave. S., said the spokesman of the police in St. Petersburg Mike Puetz.

Woman in the Dunes “, Patricia, was arrested by members of the Pinellas County Sheriff Monday. Deputies checked the vehicle identification number and discovered the truck was stolen Nov. 20 in Saint Petersburg, Puetz said. Scott Sands had bought for $ 275.

This afternoon, detectives went to work sands recovery “and found its staff cut a 1990 Lexus LS 400 in four pieces, Puetz said. The Lexus was reported stolen Oct. 25.

Detectives also found a 2005 Ford F-450 was reported stolen March 20, Puetz said. The truck had independent Salvage painted on both doors.

As part of Operation Chop Shop, Sands created fraudulent certificates of destruction, Puetz said.
