Phil Younghusband, The Philippines Azkals are back in business, training hard for the first round of the World Cup against Sri Lanka. The Azkals now practicing two hours in the morning and two hours in the afternoon.
Coaches, especially German coach Hans Weiss, are pushing players to work harder than ever. Practice this morning in the field saw the Alabang Country Club Azkals participate in exercises with different weight and speed training.
Players try to develop their speed, the movement’s strength, and endurance in preparation for their game on 29 June.
Phil Younghusband was also at the Alabang Country Club but did not participate in team practice. He was hospitalized last week due to dehydration after a club match in the league and is still recovering.
Aly Borromeo and Caligdong Chieffy well rested after playing for the League Club last night. Aranda later Ian was also due to a groin injury, but all three players are expected to participate in afternoon practice at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
Coach Weiss believes that some of the Azkals have commitments with the club in the league, but says that later; have to focus on their responsibilities to the national team.
The Azkals have a practice match in Iloilo next week and hold a meeting bringing together the team of Cebu. In June, he will train for two weeks in Germany.
