Petra Nemcova Tsunami, “Extra” caught up with AJ Calloway “Dancing with the Stars” Petra Nemcova, who revealed she was dancing with a purpose.
Nemcova established the Happy Hearts Fund after surviving the tsunami in Thailand in 2004. The charity helps rebuild the lives of children after a natural disaster. She said AJ; “My goal is to keep the light on those in Japan.”
When Calloway addressed rumors that she was not going to dance this season to perform charity work, Nemcova said she plans to do both and said: “It’s a combination.”
Petra and her “DWTS” partner, Dmitry Chaplin Fox will trot to the premiere of “Dancing with the Stars” on March 21.
She said: “To see [the video and photos] on Friday (11.03.11) morning was horrible my heart was broken.
“My love was for everyone in Japan. There is something so difficult to imagine without going through. When a disaster occurs, it is amazing unconditional love from all directions.”
The beauty of 31 years – who used to date James Blunt and is now engaged to British actor Jamie Belman – also open about her own fight for life, recounting the day she held a tree that Simon was scanned.
She told Good Morning America: “You feel powerless, the more you fight, you lose more energy and chances of survival.
“The best thing you can do is tried to stay calm. It can save your life.”
The star will take part in the 12 series’ Dancing with the Stars “along with Kendra Wilkinson, Kirstie Alley and former boxing champion Sugar Ray Leonard.
