Pelosi Election Results, Nancy Pelosi, 70, the first woman to serve as chairman of the House, lost the title as the Republicans took control of the House after the elections last night. Pelosi is easy to see as a caricature – the plastic surgery jokes, jokes by hosts of the night talk show and abysmal approval ratings. But, hey, she’s a real person – a mother and grandmother, and here are five things you might not know about Pelosi:

-She ‘s been married to husband Paul Pelosi since 1963 and have five children: Nancy Corinne, Christine, Jacqueline, Paul and Alexandra, and seven grandchildren. Alex, a journalist, covered the Republican presidential campaign in 2000 and made a film about the experience, Journeys with George. In 2007, he published a book of Christine, the campaign of Boot Camp: Basic Training for future leaders.

“She is one of the wealthiest members of Congress. The Pelosi family has a net worth of about 12.5 million in 2008, much of the investment. In addition to its extensive portfolio of real estate in California, the couple also owns a vineyard and a value of between 5 million and and $ 25 million. Pelosi’s husband also owns shares and 1 million including Apple, Inc.

“Not only is she the first woman to hold the position of Speaker of the House, which is the first Italian-American and the first in California to celebrate the title.

He graduated from Trinity College (Washington, DC) in 1962 with a degree in (what else?) Political science.

She was born in Baltimore, Maryland and is the youngest of six children.
