Peggy Rea

Peggy Rea, veteran of the TV world that appeared on a number of classic shows, died of heart failure. She was 89.

The actress is probably best remembered as a woman Boss Hogg on The Dukes of Hazzard, though her resume also includes relay The Waltons, Grace Under Fire, I Love Lucy and All in the Family.

Rea was originally from California who made her Broadway debut in a revival of 1950′s A Streetcar Named Desire. She died on Saturday.

Rea has also been a regular on such series as The Waltons (as Olivia Walton cousin Rose Burton), The Dukes of Hazzard (the man-hunt as Lulu Hogg) and step by step (as Ivy Baker’s mother nature Suzanne Somers).

The Los Angeles native began her career in television in the 1960s as a member of the corporation Red Skelton. She also appeared in series such as I Love Lucy, Have Gun, Will Travel, The Phil Silvers Show, Bonanza, Gunsmoke, Ironside, Hunter, Marcus Welby, and MD; right to Burke, and MacGyver.

Film credits include Cold Turkey Rea (1971), Country (1989), Love Field (1992) and Made in America (1993).

Interment will take place at 11:00 on February 28 at the cemetery of Santa Barbara in the mausoleum in the courtyard Pines.
