Paula Abdul On X Factor For 1 Season

March 7, 2012 by staff

Paula Abdul On X Factor For 1 Season, Simon Cowell revealed that he did fire Paula Abdul from the X Factor right after season 1 wrapped up. Why did he have to let the 1980s singer go after the two had worked so well together on two shows? Many people think she was upset to be let go, but that is not true.

Cowell actually revealed that he was happy with season 1 of the X Factor, which makes it a bit shocking that he fired Abdul. However, it seems that the network felt that the singer made the show too similar to what had already been done on American Idol, and since they are competing against the show, they wanted to change things up, which isn’t a huge surprise.

Simon Cowell said of losing Paula Abdul, “it’s sad . . . but you hope that the changes will overall make the show do better this year, because that’s all we were thinking about.”

He actually really enjoyed teaming back up with the singer, but the network wanted something brand new, which makes sense. Ultimately, everybody ended up making money working together, but it was time for a change.

Even Paula Abdul herself was not terribly upset by the show’s changes. She said, “Looks like the gossip mills are churning out a steady stream of fiction about me… Truth is, I parted ways amicably & remain friends w/ . . . Simon. Just saw all my Fox friends the other day!… I know it’s boring & underwhelming, but hey, the truth usually is…”

What do you think? Did you enjoy seeing the dynamic duo back together? If not, were you happy to see her go? Who do you want to see take her place in season 2? It is certainly nice to see that she and Simon left on good terms because they seem to be good friends.
