Paul Simon 9/11Paul Simon 9/11, @ 11:30 AM: The U.S. requested a moment of silence at Eastern NEW YORK – The agency that owns the World Trade Center is asking all Americans to participate in a moment of silence at 1 pm Eastern Time to remember the victims of the Sept. 11 attacks.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, called on Sunday for people to “cease all regular activity for a minute to reflect on lives lost and affected by the tragedy of 9 / 11.”

Authorities are also notifying the public that the sirens are heard throughout the city of New York at the time.

Rudolph Giuliani, mayor of New York on 9 / 11, paid tribute to the victims at the ceremony from ground zero this morning.

“God bless every soul that we lost,” he said. “God bless the family members who have to bear this loss.”

@ 10 AM: Another moment of silence to remember to hit the Pentagon
After a moment of silence at 9:37 am – the time 10 years ago, when the Pentagon was hit by an airliner – Secretary of Defense, Leon Panetta, said more than 6,200 members of the U.S. military. UU. Have died in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan since September 11.

“Thanks to their sacrifices, we are a nation safer and stronger today.”

@ 9:36 a.m., crowds gather on the second day in the Flight 93 memorial
Shanksville, Pa. – Thousands of family members and friends of the 40 passengers and crew killed aboard United Flight 93 met with political dignitaries, local officials and residents for a second day in the recently dedicated National Park marks the place where the hijacked plane crashed during the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

Sunday service at the Flight 93 memorial, about 60 miles southeast of Pittsburgh, was arrested in concert with ceremonies in New York and Washington, DC, where other hijacked planes crashed into the twin towers of World Trade Center and the Pentagon.
