Patch 4.0.1, Patch 4.0.1 is the patch pre-Cataclysm. It contains a ton of changes for all classes and specifications. We’ll go into details later, but for now, here are the main consequences:
There is a complete overhaul of existing ones stats and their point values. Reforger be implemented, thereby helping to make the transition smoother.
There is a total overhaul of our talent trees. The current 51-point trees have disappeared; new trees of 31 points will be implemented, with new capabilities. As part of this, you must choose a specialization at level 10. You get 5 points when launching Cataclysm talent and you’re able to get 5 more levels.
Ranks of spells are gone. You just have to learn a lot once, if it can be at a different level as before. Your spells will now automatically “level up” the damage with you.
Masters has been implemented, although it is not part of the talent trees
Think patch 4.0.1 as a change in your character, with later Cataclysm full version as an amendment to the world around you. Although this new patch includes a number of changes we see now in beta Cataclysm, it is important to note that this will not happen with the new patch:
The world will not be ripped – you will not see changes in areas of existing and new quests.
As a logical extension, you will not be able to access new areas as Vashj’ir and Mount Hyjal.
You will not be able to exceed level 80.
You will not be able to play as a goblin or Worgen.
You will not be able to fly in the “old world”. You will not be able to train 310 percent speed mount.
That’s it! Patch 4.0.1 starts slipping in Cataclysm. As you spend the day downloading and entering a game brand new, take the time to check out this overview for patch 4.0.1 of information.
