Pat Burns, Pat Burns is alive, although several news media reported that he died today. Report that Burns, who suffers from cancer, had died came from a fast-moving wildfire reports from various news agencies and social media sites. Compounding the problem was that a report in the Toronto Star the name of his source of information as Maple Leafs Cliff Fletcher adviser. As a result, many media, including this blog, short stories published on the report of the Star.
But later Friday, Burns called a columnist for TSN in Canada and said, “Tell them I’m alive. Put them straight.”
Burns coached the Bruins’ 1997 and 2000. He also coached the Canadiens, Maple Leafs and the Devils, who led the Stanley Cup in 2003.
