Palin Shatner:UNDATED (AP) — Tiger Woods says he’s done a lot of soul searching and decided to take “an indefinite break from professional golf.” In a statement on his Web site, Woods is acknowledging his “infidelity” for the first time and says he needs to focus on trying to repair the “damage” he’s done to his family.
ISLAMABAD (AP) — Pakistan’s prime minister says the army’s offensive in South Waziristan is over. He says the government is now considering shifting the battle to another tribal region along the Afghan border where many militants are believed to have fled.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Pakistani and U.S. officials say the five young Americans detained in Pakistan on suspicion of terrorist links are likely to be deported back to the U.S. FBI agents have joined the questioning and are trying to determine whether there’s enough evidence to charge any of them with conspiracy.
COPENHAGEN (AP) — Environment ministers from the 192 nations taking part in the U.N. climate conference are arriving in Copenhagen today. They’ll carry on negotiations over emissions targets and financing issues in a pact to curb global warming. Thousands of people are expected to join a march through the city to demand that leaders take strong action to fight climate change.
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — “The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien” has been having fun recently with Sarah Palin’s book. William Shatner has been performing dramatic readings from “Going Rogue.” Last night, the former vice presidential candidate made an unannounced appearance and read from Shatner’s autobiography. She chose a passage in which he writes about visiting an African elephant in his underwear.
