The mobile software company has developed a free mobile app that houses location-based services for a growing collection of attractions, from the Portland Timbers, the Portland Art Museum and Powell’s Books.

The Oregon Convention Center, however, is unique in that it will be able to use Merdian’s content management system – called Meridian Editor – to be able to tailor its app to whatever event is happening at that time.

To kick it off, the convention center will be highlighting the Portland International Auto Show, which starts today and continues through Sunday.

Once downloaded, the Meridian app will allow visitors to search and view multimedia on various automobiles and exhibitors and get turn-by-turn directions to various attractions, including food and beverage stations.

“The entire facility is over a million square feet,” Matt Pizzuti, the convention center’s director of sales and marketing, said in a news release, “and Meridian provides an advanced but easy-to-use navigation tool, something we’ve always needed inside the building.”
