Oprah Campaign Against Distracted Driving

January 19, 2012 by staff

Oprah Campaign Against Distracted Driving, The day after the Georgia lawmakers passed two bills banning texting and driving, hundreds of people turned up at Georgia Tech for a taping of “The Oprah Winfrey Show” on the same subject.

Winfrey launched her “No Phone Zone” campaign against distracted driving in January. Like 11Alive’s Great Hang Up campaign, it asks people to pledge to not text or talk on their cell phones while driving.

“No Phone Zone” rallies were held in Atlanta, Detroit, Los Angeles, Boston and Washington, D.C. on Friday.

Winfrey wasn’t actually at the Atlanta event. It was hosted by actress Holly Robinson Peete, special correspondent to “The Oprah Winfrey Show.”
