Ontario Gas Shortage

Ontario Gas Shortage, As if high prices at the pumps were not sufficient aggravating motorists. Drivers have found another frustration to deal with a handful of stations across the greater Toronto area have run out of gas due to fuel shortages.
Some Shell stations in Toronto and other parts of southern Ontario are sitting idle because of a delay in the Shell refinery in Sarnia. Others are running after the refinery was closed for maintenance.
“Usually, they are able to take advantage of market supply in southern Ontario. When we look at the market, there was really a great total amount available, which was very tight,” said Jeff Gabert, a spokesman for Shell Canada, CTV.
In addition to Toronto, CP24 viewers have reported shortages in Burlington and London.

This shortage could be just the beginning.
Natural Resources Canada is warning of fuel shortages may occur more frequently in the future because the country’s three main refineries are operating at 100 percent of capacity and demand is growing.
“Without investment in new refining capacity, supply disruptions could be more frequent and increasingly difficult to manage,” says Natural Resources Canada website.
Gas Pricesanlyst and former Liberal MP Dan McTeague told CTV that a shortage of gas due to a “high level of use and lack of investment in refineries.”
McTeague warning echoed Natural Resources Canada, saying the additional shortages may occur.
However, some short-term pain at the pump can result in a win for motorists.
The gain will come in the form of savings, according to someanlysts, who believe gas prices will be reduced by several cents, once the renewal offer.
As of Wednesday morning, drivers in Toronto are paying an average of 1.22 per liter. A year ago, drivers were paying and 1.04.
