Ole Miss Mascot, Committee Ole Miss mascot selection hopes to complete its work by the end of this week, its website said. A period of one week before the vote ended Tuesday. The online survey asked Ole Miss players what they thought of three finalists – Black Bear Rebel, Rebel Land Shark and Hotty Toddy. We present the struggle over the new mascot last week.
The Ole Miss student survey, faculty, staff, alumni and season ticket holders ended today at 17 o’clock, and the Rebel Mascot Selection Committee plans to review poll results as soon as possible. The results and a final mascot selection should be made public by the committee later this week and will be posted on this site.
The survey opened on October 6 and contains the work of artist and a description of three finalists – Black Bear Rebel, Rebel Land Shark and Hotty Toddy. More than 13,000 students, faculty, staff, alumni and season ticket holders have answered the first question, with more than 96 percent of those participants who responded positively to at least one of the concepts.
Earlier in the selection process, focus groups representing different parts of the Ole Miss community characteristics that are essential for a new mascot rebels. According to these groups, the ultimate mascot should unify the community Ole Miss, Mississippi have a connection, be unique, to adapt to the Grove for the game, adapting to the culture Ole Miss, projecting an image proud to be timeless and not in fashion, the ability to be active and to appeal to children.
The process of designing the mascot began last spring with a review of more than 1,000 suggestions from the community Ole Miss and 33 focus groups. From this list, the selection committee has submitted 11 concepts for the input. After months of working with the Ole Miss community to choose a mascot, the committee is pleased to learn that concept has been the most popular and eager to announce the new mascot for Ole Miss Rebels.
