Obstructing A Law Enforcement OfficerObstructing A Law Enforcement Officer, YOUNG woman and a teenage girl have been charged with assault after separate incidents in Brisbane on New Year’s Eve.

Police say they were called to licensed premises in the Queen Street Mall to investigate a public nuisance about 7.45pm (AEST).

While they were there, a woman obstructed police and bit a female constable on the arm.

A 19-year-old Wavell Heights woman has been charged with assaulting police and obstruction and is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday.

About 9.30pm (AEST), a 16-year-old girl allegedly struck a male transit officer in the face several times at a railway station on Roma Street.

The girl was arrested by police a short time later and while she was in custody she allegedly attempted to bite an officer before spitting in his face.

The girl has been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm and will be dealt with under the Youth Justices Act.
