Nixon Goes Bald For Wit, Cynthia Nixon has revealed her new bald head, after shaving off her red hair for a role in a stage play. The Sex and the City star will appear in the Pulitzer Prize-winning play Wit, in which she plays a celebrated poetry professor battling terminal cancer.

The production opens at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre in New York tomorrow (January 26). Nixon appeared on Live! With Kelly to promote the play, with host Kelly Ripa jokingly asking her: “So what’s new?”

On shaving her head, Nixon said: “I thought it was kind of gonna be ‘No muss-no fuss’, but I have to shave it every day! It’s got kind of a five o’clock shadow, and you don’t want to go on with that.

“I was always kind of curious to see what it would be like. I like it; I don’t think I’m gonna keep it forever.”

Talking about her role as professor Vivian Bearing, Nixon added: “She’s really at the top of her profession. She’s a professor of 17th century poetry. She’s the best; she knows she’s the best.
