Nivea Apologizes For AdNivea Apologizes For Ad, Nivea has apologized for his “re-civilize” ad that sparked racial controversy, and remove the print ad offensive.

The announcement of the popular “it seems you do not care” campaign caused outrage this week after it published the ad, reports The New York Times. It showed a well-groomed, clean-shaven black man about to throw a rubber mask of your car before facial hair and an Afro. On the model, words in large print read: RE-civilize yourself.

The scandal, after the announcement was swift, with many calling the ad racist. Nona Willis Aronowitz in good said: “The message could not be clearer.” “The natural hair in a black man is not a style preference or a nod to Afrocentrism – is straight from uncivilized” he said, according to The New York Times.

Questlove, a musician who often tweet about issues of race, was angered by the announcement, Twitter Thursday: “lotion with the name of a stripper 38-year-old really wants my head. Uncivilized? # [Censored] Nivea “.

Within hours, Nivea had apologized. In his Facebook page, the company wrote: “This ad was inappropriate and offensive.”

“It was never our intention to offend anyone, so we deeply regret. This ad will not be used again,” they said, reports The New York Times.
