Nicolas Cage Comic Book, On Wednesday night, a copy of Action Comics No. 1 from 1938 set a record for the most money ever paid for a comic book: After 50 bids at auction, the closing price was more than US$2.1-million.
Gawker is reporting that the comic book in question was once owned by Nicolas Cage, who bought it for $150,000 in 1997. After it was stolen from his home in 2000, the book was recovered after a man contacted Stephen Fishler, the co-owner of ComicConnect.com and Metropolis Collectibles, saying he found it inside a storage locker that he purchased the contents of in California.
“After spending so many years looking for the book, I was blown away when it appeared,” Fishler said in a statement. “The book’s new owner and the whole collectibles community are lucky this amazing book was recovered.”
