Nick Nolte Explains Mug Shot, Nick Nolte, who had been People’s Sexiest Man Alive in 1992, has come clean about the freaky mug shot from his arrest nearly 10 years ago in GQ’s January issue due to hit the stands Dec. 21.
According to People.com, Nick Nolte reveals that the infamous mug shot of him in a Hawaiian shirt with flyaway hair wasn’t a police mug shot at all but a Polaroid photograph taken by a young officer at the hospital where Nolte was taken for a blood test.
The incident started when Nolte was stopped by police on suspicion of driving under the influence. Syracuse.com said Nolte explains in the GQ article that it was not alcohol he was under the influence of but GHB, also known as liquid ecstasy and “the date-rape drug.” He told GQ it helped with workouts and improved his moods.
When the officer at the hospital asked if he could take a photograph, People.com said Nolte told GQ: “I said, ‘Come on, you don’t really want to ask that, do you?”
The officer did and Nolte agreed to pose if the officer shared any proceeds he made off the photograph with his colleagues.
