Nick Bell Mississippi State, (AP)-Mississippi State defensive end Nick Bell is in intensive care after emergency surgery in Birmingham, Ala., after he was found Sunday that his cancer has spread.

In a statement, the MSU coach Dan Mullen said he had visited Bell at the University of Alabama-Birmingham hospital on Monday afternoon. Bell, who is from Bessemer, Alabama, was operated on Monday morning. He began experiencing headaches at the end of September and had surgery on October 1 to remove a mass on his brain. The mass was later diagnosed as a form of skin cancer.

Mullen said about 50 players Mississippi State planned to go to the hospital Monday night Bell.

Bell, a 6-foot-3 sophomore from 265 pounds, played four games this season, including two starts, making seven tackles.
