NFL Free Agents, The Indianapolis Colts have re-signed free agent running back Joseph Addai, Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports. The terms of the agreement were not known. Colts owner Jim Irsay later confirmed the signature on Twitter. Addai has been the leading runningback since he was drafted in the first round of LSU in 2009.
Terms of the deal are not yet available.
Stampede Blue Colts Addai blog:
Bring back Addai is interesting because 1) No one really seemed to want him since he became a free agent, and 2) and Donald Brown have Delone Carter and rookie listed. With so many holes to fill on the defensive line and secondary, the addition of another runningback seems strange.
It also does not speak well for Brown. We are now in the third year since it was drafted in the first round of the ’09 draft and the team still does not feel comfortable handing over the reins runningback him.
Back to Addai, who are a hard runner who plays smart and not all the little things right? It is also just a nice guy, nice. Hard not to feel good with someone like that get re-sign.
