New York Travel, American Express has announced the return of its signature “Travel with Your Mind” philanthropic program in New York. Launched in 2009, the program is designed to assist schools in supporting worthy through a series of beautification projects Travel Theme and multi-cultural initiatives throughout several U.S. cities. Inspired by her ongoing commitment to education and the desire to promote cultural awareness, American Express, in collaboration with New York Cares, PS 636k selected primary schools that 2010-2011 “Travel with Your Mind” beneficiary. The first project in New York will take place at the elementary school PS 636k Thursday, October 21, 2010 from 9:00 to 2:00 PM.
For the first of three planned projects during the school year, American Express and Delta employees with local parents, students, teachers and community members:
Improve the library by painting the walls, creating murals, bookshelves and furniture construction. An international library will be created to hold special language books and international double (English / Spanish). Transforming the school by painting a world map and the creation of online games for students to use. Brighten up the playground by the world of painting / travel themed murals along the schoolyard to beautify the space. Create an outdoor space for students. The area outside the auditorium, to be known as the international exhibition, will be equipped with furniture made by hand and transformed into a place to eat and study.
Projects for elementary school PS 636k were decided in advance to a “Design Day” meeting at which key members of the community discussed and proposed revitalization projects selected based on the needs of the school.

The selection of projects and future activities
The Journey “with your spirit” theme was chosen to help expose students to new opportunities created by a travel range of travel plans and initiatives related to multicultural -. Without leaving their own backyard two other projects are planned for PS 636k place primary school during the winter semester and spring, which will be announced in early 2011.
In addition to New York, American Express is also partnered with HandsOn Network to bring the “Travel with Your Mind” program for Atlanta, Detroit, and Memphis, Minneapolis, where similar projects will be implemented throughout the year. Overall, American Express Travel with Your Mind “program in five cities should generate more than 2,500 volunteers, 10,000 volunteer hours and contributions totaling more than $ 500,000.
