Nebraska vs Arizona:The Arizona vs. Nebraska 2009 Holiday Bowl is going to be a great game. The 2009 Holiday Bowl has Arizona vs. Nebraska in a game that is definitely going to be decided by the defenses. Nebraska comes in with the most attention focused on them, as they have the best defensive player in

college football right now. Nebraska was also one play away from a BCS Bowl game so they know what it’s like to be a successful team. Arizona wasn’t too far off from the Rose Bowl themselves, with a late season swoon bringing a lot of heartbreak to a team that thought they might be able to win the Pac-10.

The Nebraska vs. Arizona game is also going to be a nice match-up because they are both ranked in the top 25. Nebraska comes in with the slightly better ranking of #20 and the better record at 9-4 in 2009. They also played in the Big-12 Championship game against Texas that was decided when the officials decided to put time back on the clock so that Texas could kick the game winning field goal. Arizona is ranked #22 with their 8-4 overall record, and lost a November 21st against Oregon that could have sent them to the Rose Bowl if they had been able to pull out the win in the end. They too only lost by a field goal in the end, their loss coming in the second overtime.

As I mentioned before though, this game is going to come down to the defensive squads that both Nebraska and Arizona put on the field. Nebraska ended up with one of the best statistical defenses in the country, and as a team only gave up 146 total points in their 13 games. Statistically Arizona doesn’t rate in the same class having given up 278 points as a team, but in the run-and-gun Pac-10 offense that is an expectation of even the best teams that they are going to give up some scores. Now they have the chance to go up against a Nebraska quarterback who has struggled to perform in games against the better defenses.
