Nebraska 'pirate' ShotNebraska ‘pirate’ Shot, Police in Omaha, Nebraska, shot a man dressed as a pirate after he threatened officers with a sword, authorities confirmed Friday.

Jonathan Martis, 39, buccaneer regalia had been at a family gathering when police responded to a disturbance call Thursday night. But once the officers arrived at the residence, found that Marti had put the call himself to lure officers to the scene.

The police ordered him to drop his weapon, and Marti responded with an outward movement of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” movies, not daring to shoot and move with his sword.

An officer tried to Taser, but appeared to have no effect on the swashbuckling Martis, police said.

Finally, Officer Troy Hiller finished speaking to a Parlay Martis and shot him in the stomach.

He was taken to a local hospital in critical condition with injuries not life threatening, where he remained in stable condition Friday.

Hiller was placed on paid administrative leave as the police department is investigating the incident.
