Nebraska Furniture Mart, The Digital Entertainment Group (DEG) will present Best Buy, “Nebraska Furniture Mart and Amazon.com”with Retailer of the Year awards tonight at its 14th International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) of receipt.
The trade group, composed of content providers and electronics manufacturers, established the awards to recognize excellence in promoting and merchandising of digital entertainment products and Blu-ray Disc during the past year.
Best Buy has taken the national retailer of the year in the equipment category for his “visionary approach to merchandising and display and support for new technologies,” said DEG.
“Nebraska Furniture Mart”écopé Regional Retailer of the Year honors in the hardware for its support of complete lines of all categories of equipment and demonstrations of new technologies.
The Retailer of the Year for the software went to Amazon.com. DEG has said its members voted overwhelmingly for the online retailer for its innovative approach to driving 3D Blu-ray, as well as creating new promotions for consumers behind EST, VOD and MOD.
In addition, Panasonic and Sony Electronics has received Emiel N. Petrone Digital Innovation Award, in memory of the founding president of the DEG, at the sight, the source and sound categories. The latter went to Sony Electronics for the STR-DA5600ES 7.1 channel network multiroom A / V receiver, while Panasonic has taken the original view and the respective awards for his solid 50-inch Viera TC-P50VT25 TV 3D plasma 1080p DMP-BDT100 3D full HD Blu-ray Disc.
DEG also awarded honors to six Creative Excellence 2010 Blu-ray Disc for their overall sound and picture quality and features that best demonstrate the value-added nature of this format. The winners are:
