NDP Recount, A judicial recount confirmed Tuesday that the Liberal candidate Kevin Lamoureux was the winner in the conduct of Winnipeg North.
The count, conducted on Monday and certified by a judge, showed that Lamoureux won 9,097 votes, or 35.8 percent of the votes cast, compared to NDP candidate Rebecca Blaikie, who received 9,053 votes, or 35.6 percent.
The recount reduced Lamoureux margin of 44 votes, below the original 45 votes announced on election night.
Ann Matejicka conservative candidate received 6,701, or 26.4 percent, John Harvie Green Party collected 458 votes and Frank Komarniski Communist Party received 118 votes.
Lamoureux won for the first time riding in a byelection last year’s final. Judy Wasylycia-Leis of the NDP carried out North Winnipeg headquarters, until he resigned to run for mayor of Winnipeg.
