National Christmas Tree, The National Park Service is opening a lottery free tickets to attend this year’s National Christmas Tree lighting ceremony in Washington.

The online lottery opens Thursday at 10 am and will close at 10 am on Monday. The Park Service will give 3,000 entries and 14,000-seat stand-tickets through the lottery.

The lighting of this year is scheduled for December 1 in front of the White House. The president traditionally lights the tree, along with his family. The artists for the event will be announced later.

The Park Service offers more free tickets to the event this year. Since 2009, the Park Service has doubled the number of standing tickets for lighting the National Christmas tree.
