Nascar At Watkins Glen 2011, Australian Marcos Ambrose became a winner of the race for the first time in the Sprint Cup after rain delayed the Heluva Monday Dips good sour cream in a frantic finale at Watkins Glen International.
Brad Keselowski passed Ambrose in the lead for a final green-white-checkered finish and then held it for his first victory in its 105th outlet in NASCAR’s top series. He won three nationwide races in a row on this track from 2008-10.
An incident in which Paul Menard in the final laps completed installation of two extra laps. Kyle Busch Pole took the lead for the final restart, but Busch and Ambrose, both rotate your tires, allowing Keselowski to keep going over them in the first place. But Ambrose stormed back and made the winning pass in turn five in the second round to last.
The race ended under caution by a terrible multi-car accident involving David Reutimann, David Ragan, Tony Stewart and Clint Bowyer. Reutimann car flipped after it struck hard in the second curve on the final lap barrier. No one was injured in the incident.
Keselowski, who continues to recover from a broken left ankle and back pain, finished second, followed by Busch, Martin Truex Jr. and Joey Logano.
Ambrose, who became the fifth first time winner of the race this year, was placed in the race for one of two wildcard spots in the fight for the championship. Four races remaining before NASCAR’s playoffs begin on September 18 at Chicagoland Speedway.
