Mamata BanerjeeMunicipal Election Results West Bengal:Mamata Banarjee, the head of West Bengal’s main opposition party Trinamool Congress (TMC) is sweeping the state of Calcutta in West Bengal Municipal Election. According to recent municipal election results west Bengal, the Marxist is in 46, 85 and TMC Indian National Congress at 7.

Political observers called the West Bengal in local elections as a semifinal before elections to the Assembly in 2011. Counting already underway in 81 local councils in West Bengal. There are six municipal bodies and 121 municipalities with a total of 1806 Wards there. Municipal elections in West Bengal, were held on May 30, 2010 by West Bengal Election Commission.

The Calcutta Corporation is governed by the Calcutta Municipal Act 1980. Calcutta has been divided into 141 districts. For each district, a council member is nominated. The mayor is elected by the directors for five years. The Mayor of the Council has the mayor, deputy mayor and 10 councilors.
